12.8cm Pak44 AT

Bring one of the Wehrmacht’s most formidable late-war anti-tank guns to your collection with this detailed 12.8cm Pak44 AT model. Developed to counter increasingly well-armoured Allied and Soviet vehicles, the imposing Pak 44 combined an exceptionally long barrel with a massive carriage, creating a striking centrepiece for any World War II scene.

Historical Role

The 12.8 cm Panzerabwehrkanone 44 was developed during the later years of World War II as a heavy anti-tank weapon capable of engaging the most strongly protected enemy armour at long range. Its size and weight made movement and deployment more demanding than with lighter Wehrmacht anti-tank guns, but its powerful armament gave it an exceptional battlefield presence. The design also reflected German interest in using heavy-calibre weapons for both direct anti-tank fire and conventional artillery tasks.

Distinctive Appearance

The Pak 44 is immediately recognisable by its very long barrel, prominent muzzle brake, broad protective shield and substantial carriage. Its low firing position contrasts with the considerable bulk of the weapon, while the heavy trails, wheels and complex mounting underline the forces generated by its large-calibre ammunition. These features create a dramatic silhouette that clearly distinguishes it from smaller weapons such as the 7.5 cm Pak 40.

Modelling Uses

This model is ideal for late-war German dioramas, prepared defensive positions, artillery parks and workshop or transport scenes. It can also provide an impressive military load or lineside feature on model railways. The smaller scales suit wargaming displays and larger battlefield layouts, while the larger editions offer greater visual impact for painters, World War II enthusiasts and specialist collectors.

Fun Fact

The weapon’s 12.8 cm design could be employed in more than one role: the anti-tank designation was Pak 44, while versions used as field artillery were associated with the K 44 designation. Its powerful gun design was also adapted for installation in the Jagdtiger heavy tank destroyer.
