3,7cm PaK 37(t)
Bring an authentic early-war anti-tank position to your collection with this detailed model of the 3,7cm PaK 37(t). Originally designed and manufactured in Czechoslovakia, the gun was taken into Wehrmacht service following the German occupation of the Czech lands and the absorption of captured military equipment in 1939.
Historical Role
The 3,7cm PaK 37(t) served as a light towed anti-tank gun during the opening years of the Second World War. Operated by a small gun crew, it was intended to engage contemporary light tanks and armoured vehicles with direct fire. As armour protection increased, its effectiveness declined, but captured examples continued to have value in secondary units, training establishments and defensive positions.
Distinctive Appearance
This compact artillery piece is characterised by its long, slender barrel, low silhouette and angular protective shield. The split-trail carriage allowed the crew to create a stable firing platform, while the prominent spoked wheels reflected its horse-drawn and vehicle-towed origins. These features give the model a recognisably early-war appearance distinct from the standard German 3,7cm PaK 36.
Modelling Uses
Ideal for early-war Wehrmacht dioramas, the PaK 37(t) can be displayed in a roadside ambush, prepared defensive position, artillery park or towing scene. Smaller scales are well suited to model railways and wargaming displays, while larger versions provide additional visual presence for detailed vignettes and collectors of German and Czechoslovak military equipment.
Fun Fact
The suffix “(t)” in the German designation stood for tschechisch, meaning Czech. The Wehrmacht used similar national suffixes to identify captured or foreign-designed equipment that had been accepted into German service.
