4.7cm PaK
Recreate an important early-war Wehrmacht anti-tank weapon with this detailed 4.7cm PaK model. Based on the Czechoslovak-designed 4.7 cm KPÚV vz. 36 and taken into German service as the 4.7 cm PaK 36(t), this compact field gun brings authentic character to World War II collections, battlefield scenes and artillery positions.
Historical Role
Following the German occupation of Czechoslovakia, captured examples of this capable anti-tank gun were incorporated into Wehrmacht service. Its armour-piercing performance made it a useful supplement to Germany’s lighter 3.7cm PaK weapons during the early years of the war. Operated by a small gun crew, it could be towed into position, concealed near likely tank approaches and employed in direct fire against enemy armoured vehicles. The weapon saw service in several early-war campaigns before increasingly heavy tank armour reduced its effectiveness.
Distinctive Appearance
The 4.7cm PaK is recognisable by its long, slender barrel, low firing profile and compact carriage. Its angular protective shield, prominent spoked wheels and split trails create the characteristic outline of an early-war anti-tank gun. These details make the model especially effective when positioned behind fieldworks, beside ammunition crates or attached to a towing vehicle.
Modelling Uses
This model is ideal for World War II dioramas depicting a concealed anti-tank position, a gun being moved along a road or a Wehrmacht unit preparing for action. Smaller scales suit model railways and larger battlefield layouts, while the larger versions offer greater visual presence for wargaming displays, painting projects and collectors of historically significant artillery. It can be displayed as a standalone piece or combined with crew figures, transport and scenic accessories.
Fun Fact
The “(t)” in the German designation indicated “tschechisch”, meaning Czech, identifying the weapon’s Czechoslovak origin. The same gun also formed the main armament of the Panzerjäger I, Germany’s first wartime self-propelled tank destroyer.
