Cavalier (A24) – LIMITED PRODUCTION

Designed during the Second World War, the Cavalier bridged the gap between earlier cruiser tanks and the better-known vehicles of the Cromwell family. Historical Role
The Cavalier was developed as a fast cruiser tank intended to exploit breakthroughs, support armoured formations and operate beyond the initial battle line. Armed with the British 6-pounder gun, it offered useful anti-armour capability for its period. Its automotive performance and reliability limited its suitability for front-line service, however, and the type saw only limited operational use. Production was also comparatively small, which is why this model carries the LIMITED PRODUCTION badge.
Distinctive Appearance
The A24 has the recognisable low, box-like profile associated with Britain’s wartime cruiser tank development. Prominent features include its angular turret, long 6-pounder gun, near-vertical hull surfaces and Christie-type suspension with five large road wheels on each side. The broad tracks, compact fighting compartment, external stowage and substantial rear engine deck give it a distinctive transitional appearance between the Crusader and later Cromwell-related designs.
Modelling Uses
The Cavalier is an excellent choice for British armoured training scenes, vehicle development displays and speculative wartime formations. Smaller scales suit model railways and large dioramas, while larger versions provide room for detailed painting, weathering and crew additions. It is equally suitable for wargaming displays and collectors seeking a less commonly represented British tank.

The Cavalier formed part of a sequence of British cruiser tanks whose names began with the letter “C”, alongside vehicles such as the Covenanter, Crusader, Centaur and Cromwell.
