Flakpanzer 38(t) – LIMITED PRODUCTION

Bring a distinctive late-war Wehrmacht anti-aircraft vehicle to your collection with this detailed Flakpanzer 38(t). Built around the proven Czech-designed Panzer 38(t) chassis, this compact Selbstfahrlafette combined tracked mobility with a single 2 cm FlaK 38 cannon. The LIMITED PRODUCTION badge identifies this specialised Panzer 38(t)-based self-propelled anti-aircraft configuration.

Historical Role

The Flakpanzer 38(t) was developed to provide mobile air defence for German armoured and motorised formations. Its rapid-firing 2 cm gun was intended to engage low-flying aircraft while keeping pace with vehicles on the march. The weapon could also be used against exposed ground troops, soft-skinned vehicles and lightly protected positions when battlefield conditions required.

Distinctive Appearance

Its most recognisable feature is the open rear fighting compartment, surrounded by angular armour panels that could be folded down to improve the gun crew’s field of fire. The centrally positioned superstructure, exposed FlaK mounting and compact tracked chassis give the vehicle a markedly different silhouette from the turreted Panzer 38(t).

Variant Differences

Developed from the Panzer 38(t) family, the Flakpanzer replaced the base tank’s enclosed turret and main armament with a rear-mounted 2 cm FlaK 38 in an open-topped fighting compartment. The adapted chassis arrangement, folding armour panels and prominent anti-aircraft gun are its principal visible modelling differences. These changes created a mobile air-defence vehicle rather than a conventional battle tank.

Modelling Uses

An excellent subject for late-war European dioramas, workshop or convoy scenes, model railways, wargaming displays and specialist collectors. Smaller scales suit formations and railway layouts, while larger scales offer greater scope for painting the open fighting compartment, gun mounting and layered armour details.

Fun Fact

When lowered, the fighting-compartment panels formed a broad working platform, giving the FlaK crew improved space and traverse while creating the vehicle’s characteristic open profile.

Available Scales

Available in 1:87, 1:76, 1:72, 1:48 and 1:35 scales.

Finish Options

Choose from Cleaned Resin Grey, Grey Primed - Ready for Painting, or Historical Base Colour.

Very small details may vary slightly depending on the scale selected.
