Jagdtiger – LIMITED PRODUCTION
Bring the imposing presence of Germany’s Jagdtiger to your collection with this highly detailed 3D-printed model. Developed during the final phase of World War II, this exceptionally heavy tank destroyer combined a Tiger II-derived chassis with a formidable 12.8 cm gun. Its LIMITED PRODUCTION badge reflects the vehicle’s very heavy late-war design and the limited numbers manufactured.
Historical Role
The Jagdtiger served as a late-war German schwere Panzerjäger, intended to destroy heavily armoured enemy vehicles at long range. Its powerful main armament and extensive frontal protection made it a formidable defensive weapon, although its great weight placed considerable demands on its drivetrain, mobility and recovery support. It was best suited to prepared firing positions and long-range engagements rather than rapid manoeuvre.
Distinctive Appearance
The vehicle is instantly recognisable by its massive, slab-sided superstructure, long 12.8 cm gun and broad Tiger-family tracks. A sharply sloped front plate, thick gun mantlet and tall fixed casemate give the Jagdtiger a powerful, fortress-like profile. The absence of a rotating turret further emphasises its specialised tank-destroyer role.
Variant Differences
The Jagdtiger was developed from the Tiger II, using an adapted and lengthened version of its chassis. In place of the Tiger II’s rotating turret and 8.8 cm gun, it carried a fixed armoured casemate mounting a larger 12.8 cm weapon. The taller superstructure and exceptionally long barrel are the clearest modelling differences, reflecting its purpose as a heavily protected long-range tank destroyer.
Modelling Uses
An excellent centrepiece for late-war Wehrmacht dioramas, military model railways, wargaming displays and specialist collectors. It is particularly effective in defensive scenes, maintenance settings, transport displays or alongside other German heavy vehicles.
Fun Fact
The name “Jagdtiger” translates as “Hunting Tiger,” neatly describing its relationship to the Tiger family and its role as a dedicated armoured-vehicle hunter.
