KV-1 1-56 Variant
Bring an imposing Soviet heavy tank to your collection with the Blueprint to Print 3D KV-1 1-56 Variant. Representing one of the Red Army’s best-known early-war armoured vehicles, this model captures the KV-1’s powerful silhouette and battlefield presence. The RARE VARIANT badge identifies this item as a scale-specific alternate KV-1 interpretation within the range; it does not indicate separate wartime rarity or production status.
Historical Role
The KV-1 served as a Soviet heavy tank during the early years of the Eastern Front. Protected by substantial armour and armed with a 76.2 mm main gun, it was intended to support breakthroughs, engage fortified positions and confront enemy armour. Its protection could prove formidable in 1941, although heavy weight, restricted visibility and mechanical difficulties often affected operational mobility.
Distinctive Appearance
The KV-1 is immediately recognisable by its tall, angular profile, broad tracks and substantial hull. Large road wheels, pronounced track runs and a compact turret create a distinctly heavy appearance. The upright hull sides, projecting gun mantlet, circular turret hatch details and broad rear engine deck provide strong visual interest in both close-up displays and larger battlefield scenes.
Modelling Uses
This alternate edition is well suited to Eastern Front dioramas, model railways, wargaming displays and collectors seeking a distinctive Soviet armoured vehicle. Smaller scales work effectively in railway layouts and massed formations, while larger versions offer greater presence for painting, weathering and display. It can be posed on roads, in defensive positions, beside infantry or advancing through damaged rural terrain.
Fun Fact
The KV series was named after Soviet military and political figure Kliment Voroshilov. During the opening stages of the German invasion in 1941, the KV-1’s armour could be extremely difficult for many commonly encountered anti-tank weapons to defeat.
