Historical Background
The M3 Stuart entered service in 1941 and was used by United States forces and Allied nations through Lend-Lease. It saw action in North Africa, the Pacific and other theatres of World War II. Fast and comparatively reliable, the Stuart was primarily employed for reconnaissance, screening, liaison duties and infantry support. Although its 37 mm main gun became increasingly inadequate against heavier enemy tanks, the vehicle remained valuable where mobility, availability and a compact footprint mattered.
