T-34-57 – RARE VARIANT

Bring an uncommon Soviet armoured vehicle to your collection with the Blueprint to Print 3D T-34-57. Developed during the Second World War, this specialised T-34 combined the famous tank’s mobility and sloped armour with a high-velocity 57 mm gun intended for engaging enemy armour. The RARE VARIANT designation reflects the fact that only small numbers of T-34-57 tanks were produced with this weapon.

Historical Role

The T-34-57 served as a Soviet anti-tank variant of the standard T-34. Its long-barrelled gun offered strong armour-piercing performance, making the vehicle particularly suited to confronting hostile tanks on the Eastern Front. It retained the broader battlefield mobility of the T-34 while placing greater emphasis on defeating armoured targets rather than delivering the more versatile high-explosive fire of the standard 76 mm-armed tank.

Distinctive Appearance

The model preserves the T-34’s unmistakable early-war profile: sharply sloped hull armour, broad tracks, large road wheels and a compact turret. Its defining visual feature is the unusually long, slender 57 mm gun barrel, which gives the vehicle a noticeably different silhouette from the more familiar T-34-76.

Variant Differences

Developed from the T-34 medium tank, the T-34-57 replaced the standard 76 mm armament with a high-velocity 57 mm gun. The principal modelling difference is the narrower and significantly longer barrel projecting from the otherwise recognisable T-34 turret and hull. This variant existed to provide Soviet forces with a more specialised weapon for engaging enemy armour.

Modelling Uses

An excellent choice for Eastern Front dioramas, model railways, wargaming displays and collectors of unusual Soviet fighting vehicles. Its distinctive armament also makes it ideal for adding variety to an early-war Red Army formation or a display comparing different members of the T-34 family.

Fun Fact

Although outwardly close to a conventional T-34, the T-34-57’s specialised gun gave it a role more closely focused on tank hunting—proof that one altered component can significantly change a vehicle’s battlefield purpose and visual character.
