T-34-85 Night Sky Variant
The T-34-85 Night Sky Variant presents an alternate Blueprint to Print 3D interpretation of the celebrated Soviet medium tank. Awarded the RARE VARIANT badge because it is an alternate T-34-85 Night Sky model variant, this edition offers collectors and modellers a distinctive choice without implying unusual historical production numbers or prototype status.
Historical Role
Introduced into Red Army service during the later stages of World War II, the T-34-85 strengthened the proven T-34 design with a larger turret and more powerful 85 mm gun. It served as a mobile medium tank capable of engaging enemy armour, supporting infantry and exploiting breakthroughs. Its combination of firepower, sloped protection and cross-country mobility made it an important Soviet armoured vehicle during the Red Army’s offensives across the Eastern Front.
Distinctive Appearance
The T-34-85 is instantly recognisable by its sharply sloped hull armour, five large road wheels on each side and broad tracks. Its prominent turret, long 85 mm gun barrel and forward-set hull profile distinguish it from earlier T-34 versions. The rounded turret form, commander’s cupola and compact engine deck give the vehicle the purposeful silhouette associated with late-war Soviet armoured formations. The Night Sky designation identifies this particular alternate model presentation within the range.
Modelling Uses
This model is well suited to Eastern Front dioramas, model railways, wargaming displays and dedicated military vehicle collectors. Smaller scales work effectively for armoured columns, railway loads and battlefield scenes, while larger scales provide greater presence for painting, weathering, markings and detailed display projects.
Fun Fact
The T-34-85’s enlarged turret accommodated a three-man turret crew, allowing the commander to concentrate more effectively on observing the battlefield and directing the tank rather than also serving as the gunner.
