T-34/76 Model 1941

Bring a defining Red Army medium tank of the Eastern Front to your collection with this detailed T-34/76 Model 1941. Combining sloped armour, mobility and effective firepower, the T-34 became one of the Soviet Union’s most important armoured vehicles of World War II and a formidable presence in early-war battles.

Historical Role

The T-34/76 Model 1941 served as a versatile medium tank, supporting infantry, engaging enemy armour and exploiting breakthroughs across difficult terrain. Its wide tracks and robust suspension suited the mud, snow and poor roads encountered on the Eastern Front. Armed with the 76.2 mm F-34 gun, it offered a strong balance of armour penetration and high-explosive capability for the period.

Distinctive Appearance

The vehicle is instantly recognisable by its sharply sloped glacis, angled hull sides, low silhouette and broad tracks. The compact two-man turret, long F-34 gun barrel, prominent turret hatch and closely spaced road wheels create the purposeful profile associated with early-war T-34 production. Wartime manufacturing differences meant that details could vary between factories and production batches.

Variant Differences

The Model 1941 developed from the initial T-34 Model 1940 configuration. Its principal improvement was the adoption of the longer and more capable F-34 gun in place of the earlier L-11 weapon. For modellers, the extended barrel and associated gun mounting are the clearest visible distinctions. The change gave Red Army crews improved anti-armour performance while retaining the established T-34 hull and automotive layout.

Modelling Uses

This model is ideal for Eastern Front dioramas, model railways, wargaming displays and collectors of Soviet armour. Smaller scales suit railway scenes and massed formations, while larger scales provide greater presence for painting, weathering, unit markings and battlefield wear.

Fun Fact

The familiar “Model 1941” label is largely a later historical and modelling convention; wartime Soviet documentation generally identified these vehicles simply as T-34 tanks rather than by the model-year names widely used today.
