T25 Medium Tank
Blueprint to Print 3D’s T25 Medium Tank represents an important American experimental design from the closing years of the Second World War. Combining a powerful 90 mm gun with the general layout of the United States’ wartime medium-tank programme, the T25 is an excellent subject for modellers interested in prototype armour and the development of the later M26 Pershing.
Historical Role
The T25 was developed to investigate a more heavily armed American medium tank capable of confronting increasingly well-protected German vehicles. Its 90 mm gun offered substantially greater anti-armour performance than the 75 mm and 76 mm weapons carried by most contemporary American medium tanks. Although it did not enter operational service, the programme helped evaluate the armament, turret layout and vehicle balance required for the next generation of American tanks.
Distinctive Appearance
The vehicle is distinguished by its long 90 mm gun, prominent mantlet and large, rounded turret mounted above a comparatively compact hull. Its broad tracks, substantial running gear and transitional hull profile give it an unmistakable experimental character, visually bridging familiar wartime American medium tanks and the heavier Pershing design.
Variant Differences
The T25 developed from the experimental T23 family. In place of the T23’s 76 mm armament, it received a larger turret carrying a 90 mm gun, while the initial T25 retained the T23 programme’s electric-drive approach. The larger turret, longer weapon and altered upper-hull proportions are the most visible modelling differences. The variant existed to provide increased firepower without immediately adopting the full weight and protection of the T26 programme.
Modelling Uses
This model is ideal for prototype-vehicle collections, late-war “what-if” dioramas, model railways, wargaming displays and collectors of American armoured development. It can be displayed alongside the T23 or Pershing to illustrate the rapid evolution of United States tank design.
