Tiger II Porsche Turret – LIMITED PRODUCTION
Recreate an unmistakable early configuration of Germany’s late-war Tiger II heavy tank. Commonly known as the “Porsche turret” version, this model combines the Tiger II’s imposing armoured hull with the distinctive rounded turret fitted to the initial production vehicles. The LIMITED PRODUCTION badge reflects the brief use of this turret before the later series design became standard.
Historical Role
Introduced during World War II, the Tiger II served as a German schwere Panzer intended to dominate long-range armoured engagements. Its powerful 8.8 cm KwK 43 gun could engage heavily armoured opponents, while substantial frontal armour gave the vehicle a formidable battlefield presence. Tiger IIs were generally assigned to schwere Panzer-Abteilungen, where they provided concentrated anti-tank strength and supported major defensive or offensive operations.
Distinctive Appearance
This early Tiger II is identified by its long, sloping hull, interleaved road wheels and broad tracks, together with the turret’s curved front, rounded sides and prominent gun mantlet. The turret profile is noticeably different from the more angular later series turret, making this configuration especially recognisable in a mixed late-war German armoured display.
Variant Differences
This was an early configuration of the Tiger II rather than a separate vehicle design. It retained the Tiger II’s principal automotive layout and 8.8 cm armament, but used the turret commonly associated with Porsche’s Tiger II proposal. Its rounded front and curved profile are the clearest modelling differences. It existed because this turret was fitted to the initial production vehicles before the later series turret became standard.

Fun Fact
Although widely called the “Porsche turret,” the turret itself was designed by Krupp; the familiar name comes from its original association with Porsche’s proposed Tiger II chassis.
