The Story Behind the Vehicle
The Jeep was designed to be simple, lightweight and able to go almost anywhere. During WWII it carried officers, infantry, radios, ammunition, wounded soldiers and supplies across practically every theatre in which American forces operated.
Produced primarily as the Willys MB and Ford GPW, hundreds of thousands were built during the war. Their compact size meant they could travel along narrow tracks and damaged roads where larger trucks struggled.
Loaded with personal equipment and two crew aboard, this version represents the sort of working Jeep commonly seen moving between units rather than a pristine parade vehicle.
